Opening Night

Before Soft Step opened, Larsen went running to try and relax. All of the rehearsing did not lessen his feelings of anxiety. Having made many improvements to the show, Larsen knew that he had a good musical on his hands, but he was still nervous about having an audience. From the first moment of the show's opening, Larsen kept wondering what the audience was feeling and thinking. By the end of the show, Larsen's worrying had reached its peak. Having written the musical himself, he was his own worst critic. The audience, however, couldn't resist jumping to their feet and giving the show a 10-minute standing ovation. As hard as he tried, Larsen could not prevent the tears from coming to his eyes. He would never forget the sight of so many people applauding him and his work.
